B i o g r a p h y

Kemal Dinç was born in Istanbul in 1970. He had his first musical experience as snare drummer in a band at the Türkan Şoray Elementary School.


He emigrated to Germany in the early 80’s, and the same year started playing the bağlama by himself. After having a general musical education at the Rosenberg- Sulzbach Music Vocational School, he started to work together with Carlo Mar- chione at the Classical guitar department of the Felix Mendelssohn Music and Theatre academy in Leipzig. He performed his work “Concerto di Berlinbul”, which was composed for guitar and chamber orchestra, together with Carlo Domeniconi (Istanbul Aya Irini, Ankara Hilton 2003, Nürnberg Tafelhalle 2004).


He worked together with music communities like “Armos”, “Bourdon” and “Drama” and played music for theatre plays like “Nazım Hikmet” and “Don Quixote” in sev- eral countries. In 2006 his first solo album “lir ve Ateş” (Lyre and Fire) was released (Kalan Music).


Since 2005 he has been working as a bağlama teacher and artistic manager at Codarts World Music Academy in Rotterdam.
